We are a fellowship of spiritual directors who support and inspire each other toward integrity, responsibility, and faithfulness in our ministry of spiritual direction.
Qualifications
Our members are spiritual directors who meet the following requirements:
- Documented completion of a recognized spiritual direction training program.
- Regular meetings with their own spiritual director.
- Regular supervision with a qualified spiritual director supervisor or a group of trained spiritual directors.
Ethical Conduct
Members accept and follow the Guidelines for Ethical Conduct as established by Spiritual Directors International. Please review the Guidelines for Ethical Conduct on the SDI website.

Meetings
SDN gathers three times a year for learning, sharing, and prayer. These seasonal meetings are central to the life of the network, providing a regular rhythm of connection, encouragement, and professional formation for spiritual directors in mid-Michigan.
Members make a commitment to attend at least one of the three in-person meetings during the academic year, which are normally held the second Friday of October, January, and May from 10 a.m.- 12 noon. Meetings may be virtual if extreme weather or other circumstances prevent gathering in person.
Each meeting starts with an open circle for updates and guided group discussion, providing an opportunity for SDN members to connect, encourage, and support one another. The remainder of each meeting follows a seasonal pattern:
- Fall (October)
- Member-led lecture presentation on a topic of interest to spiritual directors (40 minutes)
- Group interaction (20 minutes)
- Winter (January)
- Facilitator shares a spiritual direction resource (15 minutes)
- Resource sharing among group members (45 minutes)
- Spring (May)
- Member-led experiential workshop introduction and instructions (10 minutes)
- Group activity (60 minutes)
- Sharing and wrap-up (20 minutes)

Membership Dues
Members pay $10 per year, payable at the Spring meeting to cover operating costs. To remain active, members must attend at least one meeting annually.
Directory Listing
Members pay an additional $5 per year to have a posting on the SDN website, also payable at the Spring meeting.
Spiritual directors who meet the membership requirements and follow the Guidelines for Ethical Conduct, but do not attend at least one meeting per year, may request a listing for an annual fee of $25, payable at the spring meeting each year.
